Reality television shows are the norm of prime time television. In fact, TLC's Here Comes Honey Boo Boo had more viewers than the National Republican Convention. I must admit, I enjoy certain reality shows, such as the Bachelor Pad and Shark Tank, both of which air on ABC. Other reality shows, however, such as Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, are over-the-top and irking. When my daughter told me about the show, I was in shock. Why are individuals interested in such appalling drama?
After viewing bits and pieces of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, I forbid my daughter to watch the show. I find it offensive and actually quite ridiculous. Watching individuals make fools out of themselves is not entertainment. The show is in no way enjoyable. I find it defamatory and odd.
You are invited to watch Honey Boo Boo and her family ride ATV's to the dump to look for clothes, allow her to order food galore at the diner and drink her infamous "go-go" juice. Honey Boo Boo and her family are acceptably referred to as rednecks. The "go-go" juice helps Honey Boo Boo stay alert through her long beauty pageant stints. I believe she is out of control as the special juice is said to be a mix of soda and Red Bull. While her family is not physically abusing Honey Boo Boo, in the real world, allowing a child to act in such a manner could be considered a form of abuse or child endangerment. Honey Boo Boo controls her family. I honestly cannot believe that TLC has created such a show.

What are your feelings about Honey Boo Boo? Which reality television shows do you despise?
I think shows like this are kind of like watching a train wreck, you just can't look away. Crazy that this is our "reality." I enjoy shows with a more positive message, like the Ellen show. It's so lighthearted and fun. I found you through the new BloggyMoms thread. :)
ReplyDeleteI think (at times) people enjoy watching others lives for the drama aspect. Like you said they "just" cannot look away.
